HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Ernest Samuel Evans was a compositor and printer who learnt his trade in London, before returning to Pembroke to manage a newspaper in Dimond Street, Pembroke Dock. In 1920, after the newspaper ceased production, Ernest set up the company Dimond Press and made his move to Pembroke permanent.
A FAMILY BUSINESS WAS ESTABLISHED
When Ernest died in 1944, his son Alexander – Alec – took over the family business with his wife Lucy. They continued the successful running of the company until his untimely death in the 1970s.
THE EVOLUTION OF MONDDI
Keeping the business once again in the family, Alec’s son, Andy, took over the running of the business with his mother, Lucy. When she retired, Andy’s wife, Catharine, joined him and together they brought the family business to where it is today.
A NAME CHANGE
Our passion for type, colour, and most of all creativity, led to us launching Monddi (an anagram of Dimond); a design agency created to coincide with the growing need for graphic design as part of the business profile. The next decade solidified website design and development as a pivotal part of our work, complementing our branding and print offerings.
WE CELEBRATED 100 YEARS!
Monddi thrived through many changes over 100 years and continues to support small businesses across Wales and beyond.
A NEW ERA
Innovative design, print and marketing group Jump accquired Monddi, leading us into a more environmentally friendly stage. As creative thinkers, we saw an opportunity to rebrand, dropping the serifs, and giving ourselves a bold and bright new look. We’re not afraid to stand out, and neither should our clients.
A BIG STEP IN SUSTAINABILITY
When the Jump Group recertified as B Corp in 2024, it included Monddi, meaning we’re officially certified B Corp! Our commitment to sustainable practices continues to evolve, seeing us making more environmentally friendly choices wherever possible, and dedicating time to volunteering efforts.
