A neon design for a bright cafe brand

The
Brief

Located on Llangrannog beach on the Ceredigion coast, Caffi Patio is a popular ice cream shop in the area, famous for the wide array of flavours it offers. With almost 40 years of activity, the parlour is a bustling small business attracting tourists and locals year-round. The summer months are crucial for the cafe; Llangrannog attracts tourists from all over the UK thanks to its beaches and landmarks, making this time of year the busiest. Therefore, Caffi Patio’s visual identity is key to standing out from the many food vendors serving visitors in West Wales.

Project

Caffi Patio’s owners approached Monddi with the task of creating a new brand design and a striking visual identity.

This new identity needed to mirror the essence of the business, embodied by the ice cream flavours on offer and their summery, pastel hues. These hues needed to be represented with an equally distinct visual identity for the company’s marketable assets.

Lastly, the brand mark needed to be colourful and as versatile as possible — working effectively with and without text.

Solution

Caffi Patio is recognised for its many delicious ice cream flavours, and caters to a wide audience of locals and tourists alike. We wanted the new brand identity to represent this visually through shapes and colours. For this reason, instead of having a single logo, we have compiled and manipulated the bright colours to work across the entire brand in any format, be that signage, stationery, or social media.
